PITTSBURGH -- Drivers traveling along Interstate 79 were at a standstill Tuesday morning due to an accident just beyond the I-279 Split.

Between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m., traffic backed steadily from Cranberry to the accident scene on the Parkway North near Camp Horne Road.

There is no word on any injuries.

For the second morning in a row, commuters on the Parkway West also had to deal with heavy delays. An accident happened outbound at the Poplar Street onramp at about 6:30 a.m.

Traffic backed up through and across the Fort Pitt Tunnel and across the Fort Duquesne bridges.

Police were able to clear the accident shortly after 9 a.m.
